AB&I Holds Meetings to Kick off EHS/HR Awareness Month
June 23, 2015
To kick off the EHS/HR awareness activities at AB&I, TJ Pinkston and Zeydi Gutierrez held meetings with all foundry team members to discuss the activities planned for the month of June to raise team awareness about the importance of working safely. At the meetings, team members were shown a message from McWane President Ruffner Page regarding the goal of the McWane EHS/HR Awareness month.
TJ just joined AB&I as the new Safety Manager and he talked to the team about his background and philosophy regarding safety. He plans to spend a lot of time in the foundry over the upcoming weeks and months learning about the different processes and jobs at AB&I and will be giving team members an opportunity to ask any questions or voice any concerns they may have about the safety practices at AB&I. He challenged team members to take ownership for their own safety as well as the safety of those working around them. This includes mentoring and training new team members as they come on board.
TJ also pointed out that a good way to be proactive is to join a safety committee or sign the “Count Me IN” banner. “Count Me IN” is a safety campaign that acknowledges publicly AB&I’s commitment to safety by agreeing to participate, communicate, work as a team and promote safety by being proactive. After all, to go home at the end of the day and enjoy our friends and family, we must work safely and as a team each and every day.
As part of their continued activities for the month, AB&I has planned a team BBQ for June 25.
