Pacific States Lends a Helping Hand on Recent Waste Collection Day
April 29, 2014
The environmental team at Pacific States participated in the Utah County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on April 12. There were 45 volunteers who helped assist over 850 households collect hazardous waste from their homes, a 13% increase from the previous year. The bulk of the collection was in old paint with e-Waste a close second. Law enforcement was also present to assist in collecting prescription drugs and document shredding service was also provided for those old important papers.
Pac States provided and served a continental breakfast and served lunch to the volunteers. Due to higher participation this year, people were lined up for about 1/3 of a mile to drop of their waste. When some scheduled volunteers from the local universities’ EHS classes failed to show, Pac States’ very own Joe Ozimek and David Georgeson jumped in to help speed things along in the afternoon.
