On Saturday, May 18th, Tyler Union-Anniston held their very first Family Appreciation Day, at Union Foundry and what a beautiful day it was -- NOT!

The forecast was for strong storms, strong winds and possible flash flooding, and wouldn’t you know it, for once they got it right! It was one of the worst storms of the year, but as the rain began to taper off, organizers got moving, and shortly after 12:00 team members and their families began to arrive. Of the 600 people who signed up to come, approximately 300 made it, but in light of the flooding, downed trees and road closures, this was an amazing turn-out.

The children had a great time playing on the inflatables, trying their hand at bottle rings, spin-art painting and fishing in the duck pond among several other attractions, while the older children went for the obstacle course, the football toss and the baseball toss. The adults seemed content watching their children have a good time or playing a relaxing game of bingo. The “hot-off-the-grill” lunch was enjoyed by everyone, but the biggest hit of the day was the foundry tours. It was so popular in fact that they had to add two extra tour times to the schedule due to the number of people wanting to see where their husband, wife, mom or dad worked.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success, but most of all we want to give a heartfelt thanks to every Tyler Union team member for the wonderful job you do every day!
