TECH TIP #21
ELIMINATION OF AIR VALVES ON STAINLESS STEEL EXTINGUISHERS
You asked for it, so Amerex has made
a change in our water-based extinguishers. We have eliminated
the air valve on all of our stainless steel extinguishers*,
except the 2 1/2 gallon Water (Model 240). This change creates
several benefits:
Recharge will be required by
a Distributor using an adapter
Less likelyhood that an unqualified person will
recharge these units with compressed air
The Distributor can assure that the proper agent
is being used in each of these models
An optional pin-type wall hanger may be used
A potential leak point is eliminated (did you know
that the cap is the real pressure sealant and should never
be left off an air valve?)
You may have noticed this change on our
recently introduced Water Mist extinguisher.
All of these models are specialized,
highly effective fire extinguishers, designed and tested
for specific uses with specific agents. It is important
that Amerex Distributors service these Models in order to
assure that the service and recharge is done properly and
that they will give optimum performance.
