Commitment to Responsibility
At Amerex, we understand our role in protecting people, our communities and the environment. Our robust environmental, health and safety programs reflect our commitment to ethical practices, transparency, continuous improvement and compliance with international standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 45001:2018.
Safe Operations
Safety is foundational at Amerex Corporation. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe and environmentally compliant workplace where team members, customers and neighbors can feel secure. Our goal is clear: Achieve a zero-incident work environment where every individual returns home safely each day.
Environmental Stewardship
Amerex is an environmental leader in the industry, continuously striving to reduce our ecological footprint through proactive and innovative practices. We became the first fire extinguisher manufacturer in our industry to achieve ISO 14001 certification in January 2004 and remain certified under the updated ISO 14001:2015 standard. Our environmental initiatives include:
-
Waste Management and Recycling:
- Recycle more than 450 tons of scrap steel, aluminum, brass, stainless steel and cardboard annually.
- Use 100% recyclable aluminum valve assemblies, brass and stainless-steel assemblies, and steel extinguisher cylinders.
- Package fire extinguishers in fully recyclable cartons with corrugated inner packaging.
-
Sustainable Manufacturing Practices:
- Use powder coatings free of solvents and volatile organic compounds on our hand portable and wheeled unit fire extinguishers.
- Perform leak detection in our manufacturing process using helium gas to avoid chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
- Eliminate hazardous substances, including cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and heavy metals, from our products.
- Employ environmentally friendly expellant gases (dry air, nitrogen, argon and helium) in dry chemical fire extinguishers — all are nonflammable, nontoxic, noncorrosive, inert atmospheric gases.
-
Eco-Friendly Extinguishing Agents:
- Amerex extinguishing agents, including dry chemical, Halotron I, FM200, water, BrX and carbon dioxide, comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Significant New Alternatives Policy.
- Halotron I and BrX extinguishers exhibit notably low ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP), offering the best environmental characteristics of any listed clean agent extinguishers. Halotron I has an ODP of 0.0098 and a GWP of 77, and BrX has an ODP of 0.0028 and a GWP of 0.26.
- All dry chemical ingredients are 100% water soluble and free of poisonous or toxic chemical ingredients.
Organizational Ethics
